Methodology

How PredictionStats turns football data into match probabilities

PredictionStats is designed to help users understand a fixture quickly. We combine structured football data, team and league context, recent performance indicators and probability-led model outputs into a single research view. The aim is not to claim certainty, but to make the evidence behind a prediction visible and easier to interpret.

1. Fixture and competition context

Every analysis begins with the fixture itself: competition, home and away teams, league position, recent results and the wider context of the match. This avoids treating a prediction percentage as an isolated number.

2. Team performance signals

Recent attacking and defensive performance, form, scoring patterns and available team statistics are used as supporting signals. These indicators help show whether a model output is consistent with the teams' recent profile.

3. Probability outputs

PredictionStats surfaces probability-led views for supported markets such as home/draw/away, both teams to score and goals-related outcomes. These figures represent relative model confidence, not guaranteed event frequencies.

4. Cross-checking against context

Probabilities are interpreted alongside standings, form and fixture information. A strong percentage is more useful when users can see the surrounding evidence, so PredictionStats deliberately keeps context close to the prediction.

5. Confidence labels

Confidence labels are a readability aid. They communicate the relative strength of a displayed probability and should not be interpreted as a promise that an outcome will occur.

6. Ongoing refinement

Football is noisy and models are imperfect. PredictionStats is continuously refined as data quality, coverage and presentation improve. Historical outcomes can differ materially from any single predicted probability.

How to read the probabilities

A prediction percentage is best treated as a relative signal. If one outcome is rated more strongly than another, the model is indicating a stronger preference for that outcome based on the available inputs. It is not a guarantee and should never be read as certainty.

Different probability groups should also be interpreted within their own market. For example, 1X2 probabilities relate to mutually exclusive match outcomes, while BTTS and goals probabilities describe different events and should not be added together.

Unexpected events such as injuries, red cards, tactical changes and individual mistakes can materially alter a match. PredictionStats therefore presents its outputs as analysis and research information rather than guaranteed betting advice.
